  • Provenance

For any who remember my "Year in a Gaudy Hamlet" this will be familiar. This is a different type of succession. Many rural communities in our province have been resettled (abandoned) in the name of progress and better services. Resettlement was a Government Initiative in the 1950s and 60s, continuing in some guise to this day.  Some houses were floated across bays, some were taken down and rebuilt elsewhere.  For the most part, communities were left to moulder back into the dirt.  The reclamation of a village (outport) by nature has been calling me since shortly after I did the first Hamlet.  Completed in December of 2016
